Program areas at The Legal Clinic

Immigration Legal Services: Providing free or low-cost services to low-income immigrants and migrants in Hawai'i. Services include client screening and intake, attorney advice and counsel, legal representation in federal immigration court, assistance with status adjustment applications, and training law students, pro bono attorneys and other volunteers in helping with specific services. In 2022, TLC staff and volunteers worked on 138 matters, for 79 unique individuals, without charging our clients attorney fees. TLC also put on a naturalization workshop for Oahu residents who needed help applying for U.S. citizenship.
Education & Advocacy: In 2022, TLC helped reestablish the Hawaii Coalition for Immigrant Rights, a statewide coalition of immigrant service providers. TLC also provided testimony for select state bills that were being considered by the State Legislature in 2022.
