Program areas at The Links Dallas Chapter
The STEM program prepare youth to be STEM literate and to be proficient in reading and writing.
The STEAM Academy is an umbrella program focused on science, technology, engineering, arts and matematics. The purpose of the STEAM Academy is to cultivate self-confidence, communication, critical thinking, and leadership capabilities by engaging 7th to 12th grad female scholars of color in exciting activities. The STEAM Academy aims to promote and support innovation, creativity and problem-solving skills; increase STEAM awareness and career readiness; and empower scholars to complete a STEAM college education and compete in the global STEAM workforce. The opportunities the Organization offer these scholars are experiences they might not otherwise receive in their current environment
The Organizations Scholarhip Program encourages students to attend College. The program is open to graduating seniors who meet the following criteria: (1) Be a black indigenous and persons of color senior, graduating from a high school in Dallas County, (2) Have applies or been accepted to a four-year college or university at the time of scholarship application (3) Have a cumulative 2.75/4.0 grade point average at the time of the application (4) Be able to demonstrate a significant amount of community service (5) Be able to demonstrate financial need via the scholarship application (6) Be available for an interview with the Scholarship Committee if selected as a semi-finalist, and (7)Scholarships will be awarded to students who provide evidence of admission to a four year college or university.
Promoting and engaging in educational, civic and inter-cultural activities that enrich the lives of members of the Black community at large. The cornerstone of the Organizations service is our five programming facets: Services to Youth, The Arts, National Trends and Services, Health and Human Services, and International Trends and Services
