Program areas at The Lot Project
The Lot. The Lot program provides food, clothing, hygiene items, blankets, and shoes to those in need. The program serves those experiencing homelessness, The transient population, and The "working poor". In 2023, The Lot program distributed 10,016 meals, 16,375 articles of clothing ,and served over 1,200 unique individuals. Where we have excess in food and clothing we distribute some of what we receive to other organizations serving The under-resourced members of our community.
Artisan gardens: The artisan gardens program provides organic produce and community gathering space free of charge to The "alphabet streets" community in downtown anderson. We currently have three garden plots where we use raised beds, in ground patches, and fruit trees to distribute high quality food to The low income, low access community in The area. We also host a weekly community outreach event in our gardens catered towards families with children. During these gatherings we play games, build community, and connect The neighbors with resources available to them.
West market makers: The west market makers program exists to provide a creative platform for The community at large to be introduced to those experiencing deep poverty. Boasting a fully stocked artist studio and woodworking area, we currently host three weekly events for anyone in our community to come in and express themselves creatively and get to know their neighbors.
Village homes: village homes is a transitional housing program catered for individuals who are taking a step toward independence without being completely isolated. For 6-12 months at a time program participants are provided affordable and adequate housing and our team facilitates goal setting and next steps so The individual is prepared for a life of dignity and self-sufficiency. In 2023 we housed two individuals who were able to complete The program and accomplish their respective goals.
