Program areas at The Mirembe Project
Hope north:hope north was created to provide children a safe haven away from The threat of war and abduction in northern uganda. Hope north is a 40-acre campus in northern uganda where refugees, orphans and former child soldiers find a place to call home. It is a living and learning community with an accredited secondary school, vocational training center and full-time ugandan staff of fifteen. In late 2015, The organization terminated their role as The official fiscal sponsor for hope north and minimal amounts were received and expended on behalf of The Project during 2016.
Refoundry: in late 2014, The organization became a fiscal sponsor of an emerging nonprofit located in brooklyn, new york known as refoundry. Refoundry is an innovative new not-for-profit that trains formerly incarcerated people to repurpose discarded materials into home furnishings, and incubates participants into their own businesses. They see The value in people and in materials too often discarded by society, and have designed an innovative program that recognizes and promotes The worth of these precious resources.
Athena:athena (The "network") is an international initiative which aims to advance gender equity and human rights in The global response to hiv/aids. Athena was created to realize this imperative. The network builds upon The work of individuals and entities who have been committed to this challenge for years, and intends to use coordinated, collective action to advance their efforts further. Athena members are working actively towards The realization of The barcelona bill of rights, a guiding document for The network that was first promulgated at The 2002 international aids conference.
