The Morgan Art of Papermaking conservatory and educational foundation is a non-profit Art center dedicated to producing and preserving hand Papermaking and The Art of The book. The Morgan pursues its educational and charitable purposes by conducting workshops, exhibitions, and tours. 15 artists participated in open studio, and we hosted 12 local, regional, national and international artists-in-residence. The Morgan received well over 800 hrs of volunteer services from over 50 volunteers. Our gallery presented five free curated exhibitions, which included The national juried show which garnered over 120 local and national entries. We provided nearly 130 artists with The opportunity to exhibit with potential sales of artwork. Total attendance (age range 0 - 80+) at The exhibitions was more than 800 individuals. All exhibitions included an artist talk, free and open to The public, and 10 additional lectures were presented by artists- in-residence, attended by 130 individuals of all ages. All exhibitions furthered The morgans mission to bring The Art of handmade paper, print, and book to The public to educate and provide cultural diversity and enrichment to The local community. There were nearly 2100 visitors in 2023. Approximately 40% were seniors, 20% were children, and 40% were adults. In 2023, The Morgan offered The public 40 workshops in hand Papermaking, print, book, and paper arts. Workshops, virtual and on-site, were attended by 171 individuals nationwide. Interns and volunteers (majority college students) can serve as assistants in The workshops or participate for a minimal materials fee. Ten employees and contract workers were afforded The opportunity to learn Papermaking, letterpress, fine printing, book and paper arts. Twenty five custom workshops on- and off-site were held for over 600 k-12 and college students, covering hand Papermaking, print, book, and paper arts.
