Advocacy and education: The National Humanities Alliance (nha) cultivates support for The Humanities on campuses, in communities, and on capitol hill. Nha advocates for funding in The executive and legislative branches of The federal government and advocates for policies that advance Humanities research, programming, preservation, and teaching. We conduct research and foster understanding of The impact of engagement with The Humanities by The general public, students, and other audiences. Nha hosts Humanities advocacy day, bringing advocates to capitol hill to advocate for funding for Humanities research, teaching, programming, and preservation and access.
Member services: The National Humanities Alliance works closely with its member organizations--colleges, universities, scholarly societies, higher education associations, state Humanities councils, and cultural organizations--to support them in their advocacy efforts. Nha produces resources and fosters exchange to help faculty, administrators, and other Humanities practitioners in making The case for The Humanities programming, teaching, research, and preservation and access.
Annual meeting: each year, The National Humanities Alliance convenes The Humanities community through The nha annual meeting and The National Humanities conference. The nha annual meeting brings together nha member representatives and Humanities stakeholders for sessions on Humanities policy, practice, and advocacy. The three-day event offers The opportunity to connect with a growing network of Humanities leaders from around The country, communicate The value of The Humanities to members of congress, explore National Humanities policy, and become year-round advocates for The Humanities. The National Humanities conference is produced in collaboration with The federation of state Humanities councils with The goal of bringing The Humanities community together as a whole to consider how, by leveraging its strengths, it can achieve broader public impact and showcase The fundamental role The Humanities play in addressing both local and global challenges.
