Program areas at The National Mentoring Partnership

Affiliate network support & developmentin 2022, mentor advanced local field leadership by supporting and expanding 24 mentor affiliates, with 56% of local affiliates led by black, indigenous, and/or people of color. In this work, mentor partnered with, supported, and provided pass-through funding to its network of 24 affiliates. Mentor also progressed in launching and relaunching new emerging affiliates in Texas, Illinois, and Florida. Mentor supported 100% of affiliates in developing an organizational operating and evaluation plan. Mentor hosted its annual gathering of affiliates and welcomed 71 attendees from across The affiliate network for training, peer learning, and community building as they work towards supporting more than 3,000 programs and organizations within The Mentoring and youth development field.
Promotion, public education & policy mentor promotes The youth Mentoring field by motivating civic leaders, employees, and individuals to prioritize and invest in ensuring all young people have access to Mentoring relationships. In 2022, mentor hosted congressional briefings on Mentoring and mental health which supported The passage of The bipartisan safe communities act passage. We also launched The mentor advocate newsletter to keep The field informed of legislative priorities, policy alerts and advocacy efforts and updates as well as The mentor advocate academy which trained young people to develop their personal policy and advocacy skills to become more civically engaged citizens and effective advocates for The issues they care about.we also continued to raise awareness of The Mentoring gap and activating mentors on a National scale by promoting The Mentoring connector, The single National database of quality Mentoring volunteer opportunities. In 2022, The Mentoring connector had more than 2,300 local Mentoring programs approved and listed and was used by more than 30,000 individuals searching for Mentoring opportunities with local Mentoring programs nationwide.in 2022, mentor was awarded $2,650,000 in funding by The office of juvenile justice and delinquency prevention to continue its National Mentoring resource center, amid continuing growth in The demand for training and technical assistance from The Mentoring field. Mentor also continued to co-lead advocacy efforts to successfully increase investment in The youth Mentoring program, The only mentoring-specific line item in The federal budget, to $102 million in fy22.
Product and program developmentone of mentor's core objectives is to identify, promote, and drive The implementation of evidence-based practices combined with community wisdom to increase The quality of Mentoring relationships for young people. Mentor pursues this work by ensuring that leading-edge research, evidence from The field, community insights, and effective training converge to increase, sustain, and evaluate The quality of Mentoring relationships for young people. Through this work, mentor also partners with key thought leaders in The youth-services field to build The evidence base and support for Mentoring as a systemic solution for improved youth outcomes in america. A few examples of 2022 accomplishments in this work include: 1) led The National Mentoring resource center to provide over 18,000 hours of technical assistance to Mentoring programs across The country; 2) worked alongside partners for youth with disabilities to recruit individuals from Mentoring programs across The country to become members of The National Mentoring disability coalition; 3) released who mentored you? An expansive research report on The Mentoring movement in The united states. Utilizing data from over 2,600 americans, The study offers a fresh multigenerational look at The Mentoring experiences of all americans; 4) offered monthly collaborative Mentoring monthly webinar series which averaged 213 attendees with 95% of attendees reporting that they gained beneficial knowledge; and 5) released a philanthropic agenda that outlined recommendations for funders to make more equitable investments that advance social capital and relationships for young people. In 2022, there were over 14,900 downloads of mentor's resources and publications.
National Mentoring summitmentor annually hosts The National Mentoring summit in Washington dc, The only National convening of youth Mentoring professionals, researchers, corporate partners, and government and civic leaders focused on strengthening and expanding quality Mentoring relationships for young people nationwide. In january 2022, mentor hosted The 12th annual National Mentoring summit which, due to covid-19 was all virtual. This event attracted 2,149 virtual attendees globally and from all 50 states.
