Program areas at The Out Foundation
Outathletics: this is our largest program which brings together lgbtq+ athletes and allies to sweat for a cause in a safe, inclusive functional fitness training environment. Our pride is in The diversity we represent within The sport of fitness and openly invite anyone to join our welcoming community. We strive to create an inclusive community of all walks of life and inspire you to feel good about yourself, your workouts, and your life. Through Out athletics we partner with local gyms to host a variety of exercises that engage The local community, specifically lgbtq+ individuals and allies to work Out together in a safe and welcoming environment. In our 5 years as a 501(c)3 organization, we have served 87 young lgbtq+ athletes. We have over 30,000 followers across all Out Foundation social media. We have served over 300 fitness, health and wellness facilities partnering for equity and inclusivity in fitness.
Outhealth: this program supports our mission by removing The barriers that block The transgender population from living as their true, authentic selves. We provide health services through initiatives like medical profession education, surgery education, sexual health navigation, self- care workshops, and more. The program is inclusive for all members of The lgbtq+ community. The transgender population is a current focus for this program. We provide The ability to those marginalized in our community to be comfortable in and celebrate their bodies. We received a 250,000 grant through The covid-19 response fund in june, 2022, allowing for expansion of The outhealth program to help address The negative impact of The pandemic on The lgbtq+ community. Funds were used to reach Out lgbtq+ and bipoc health seekers and enthusiasts community. The Out Foundation serves The lgbtq+ community as it is disproportionately affected by barriers in accessing fitness, health, and wellness. When compared to The epidemiology of The heterosexual population, lgbtq+ people are at higher risk of substance use disorders, stds, mental health disorders, suicide, and cancer. The lack of empathy and societal rejection experienced by our community is often sourced as The root of several of these issues. Therefore, The Out Foundation is positioned as a resource for The community to decrease these numbers through advocacy, education, and The implementation of our programs. Through this program we reached a total of 14,707 individuals.
Outathlete: it can be hard for many lgbtq+ young adults to find a place where they feel comfortable participating in fitness, so we are partnering with local functional fitness gyms across The country to change that. As part of The outathlete program, we cover all costs for year-long gym memberships and mental health services for lgbtq+ young adults through scholarships. We work closely with our recipients, providing goal coaching, nutrition counseling, apparel, gifts from our sponsors, and more to set The athletes up for success. In our 5 years as a 501(c)(3) organization, we have served 87 young lgbtq+ athletes and have awarded 435,000 in support of Out athletes.
Outaim (athletic inclusion movement): The outathletics inclusion movement program is designed specifically for anyone that seeks to create a welcoming and inclusive fitness environment for The lgbtq+ community.
