The People Who Care Food Cupboard

During 2021 the Food Cupboard operated 4 locations in Somerset County in order to reach as many people as possible who were experiencing food insecurity. There is also an emergency hot line to call if someone is in need outside the times the Food Cupboard is open. In 2021 the Cupboard served 12,300 individuals with food assistance. Generally they give a 1 week supply of food to each qualifying household. In 2021 a hot Thanksgiving meal was served to anyone who wished to receive one. The Food Cupboard also established a backpack program for the local schools to provide food to students for weekends and school vacations. The Food Cupboard supplied other local non profits with food baskets for their clients for both Thanksgiving & Christmas. They also suppleid over 14,000 individuals with household and health/beauty supply needs. A program was also launched through local area health centers to supply food on site ot undernourished patients. Overall the Food Cupboard strives to better the lives of all their clients thru a variety of programs and collaborations with other non-profits as well as on site at their four food cupboard locations.

The Food Cupboard moved to a new location Sept 1 2020. At this location they pay electricity and heat in lieu of rent.
