Program areas at The Police Athletic League of Yonkers Foundation
The organization's sports and recreation programs include basketball, boxing, baseball, and volleyball programs for the children. Through these programs the youth of Yonkers build positive relationships with police officers and other volunteers. The organization also provides meals to the children who participated in the summer programs and snacks during the school year programs. In partnership with the Yonkers Public Schools, Yonkers PAL facilitates the PEACE program, (Program for External Academic and Civil Engagement) an alternative educational setting for students having difficulty in the traditional classroom setting, focused on the SEL (Social- Emotional Learning) needs of each student in small group settings.
