The Poverello Center, Inc., is a Florida non-profit organization whose purpose is to service The nutritional needs of persons with critical or chronic diseases, including hiv and/or acquiree immune deficiency syndrome, and their dependents, as well as to provide financial assistance for basic living requirements in emergency situations. We're proud to be one of The only specialty food pantry's in The nation to offer medically tailored groceries for a healthy menu to people with critical/chronic illnesses. Food and groceries provided by Poverello's food pantry amount to nearly half a million meals over The course of The year for nearly 5,000 south floridians. The Poverello "eat well" Center has provided life-saving food and basic life essentials to broward county youth, women and men living with hiv/aids, most of whom are at or below 250% of The federal poverty level. In 2017 Poverello began serving people in our community who have other critical/chronic illnesses on a limited basis. Thanks to funding weve been able to serve people with cancer, diabetes and kidney disease. As more funding is identified, these other populations will increasingly be a part of what we provide. At The live well Center volunteer providers offer chiropractic, acupuncture, haircuts/hair styling, massage, and reiki.
