Program areas at RSS

EDUCATIONAL RESOURCES - 1. Webinar Series. Ongoing series of educational web-conferences. Sessions are provided live to all and via recording to RSS members. Continuing Medical Education Credits (CE) are awarded to physicians, nurses and medical physicists who attend the live session. 2 Dosimetry Plan Library. An online tool to educate physicians, medical physicists and dosimetrists on SRS/SBRT treatment planning techniques. Example cases are available to members for download to practice SRS/SBRT treatment planning techniques and compare with reference plans created by an expert panel. 3. Online Continuing Education (CE) Self Assessment Modules (SAMS). Online library of educational courses on clinical and technical applications of SRS, SBRT and advancing therapies presented by experts in the field. 4. Resident Program. Residents and faculty advisors meet monthly to develop educational and professional development programs including webinars, workshops, mentorship & career pathways program and research projects to the professional development of residents, students and trainees in the field of SRS, SBRT and advancing therapies.
RSS SCIENTIFIC MEETINGS AND WORKSHOPS - Advances in applications, technologies and methodologies of SRS, SBRT and advancing therapies continue to evolve rapidly, creating a need for continual learning. The RSS hosts national and international meetings to disseminate new scientific findings and technical innovations and expand basic knowledge relevant to clinical practice and improve patient outcomes. The educational elements are targeted to radiation oncologists, neurosurgeons, oncologists of all disciplines, medical physicists, nurses, therapists, residents, students and other professionals involved in radiotherapy. Attendees receive state-of-the-art practice information relating to radiation and oncology. The 2023 RSS Scientific Meeting was held March 23 - 25 in Orlando, FL. The 2024 RSS Scientific Meeting was held March 21 - 23, 2024 in Chicago, IL.
RESEARCH PROGRAMS - 1. RSSearch Patient Registry Publications. Online, multi-platform database dedicated to the collection of screening, treatment and follow-up data from patients treated with SRS, SBRT and advancing therapies. 2. RSS Online Journal . The RSS manages the content of a channel within the Cureus Journal of Medical Science (www.cureus.com). We coordinate the peer-review submission process, solicit manuscripts for publication and publish accepted abstracts from the RSS Scientific Meetings. The RSS also works with the Journal of Neuro-Oncology. 3. GRID, LATTICE, FLASH and Microbeam Working Group. RSS members and experts in GRID, LATTICE, FLASH and Microbeam meet monthly to address the clinical and scientific facets of these therapies with a goal of conducting research to advance clinical treatments for patients. 4. Functional Radiosurgery Working Group. RSS members, physicians, medical physicists and health care providers specializing in functional radiosurgery meet monthly to develop educational and training programs to advance clinical treatments for patients with functional diseases. 5. Website. Host information about and provide access to all RSS programs, resources and events.
