For almost seventy years the Rees Theatre in downtown Plymouth,Indiana served as the areas hub for family entertainment. Sadly in 2009 the 1940 Art Deco theatre closed and fell into disrepair. Recognizing the value of the building as an important cultural and historic landmark for the people of Plymouth and Marshall County a group of concerned citizens began meeting in 2016 and 2017 to explore how to bring the Rees Theatre back to life as a center for arts culture and education. In 2018 the Rees Theatre Inc. commenced the multi-phased restoration renovation and repurposing work on the building. The organization worked with architects engineers audio-visual experts and construction professionals for four years and proudly reopened the Rees Theatre doors to the public in October 2022. 2023 saw a few finishing touches being added to the restored theatre as well as final consultations with engineers architects and AV experts. Mechanical repairs and routine maintenance also took place in 2023.
