Program areas at The River Food Pantry
As south central Wisconsin's busiest Food Pantry, The River served over 17,000 unique individuals a total of 276,395 times in 2023. This included food-insecure children, seniors, veterans, those experiencing homelessness, and low-income families throughout dane county. We provided our neighbors in need with: 3.5 million pounds of Food and other essentials; 111,234 freshly prepared to-go meals for entire households to enjoy at home; 31,072 mobile meals in over 20 low-income neighborhoods; 3,232 grocery deliveries to The homebound; and 2,003 online grocery orders to expand client choice. To further increase access when The River is closed, we also launched an emergency Food locker program, called Food now (nights or weekends).
