Community assist grants - The Sharks Foundation's giving campaign focused on a number of causes throughout 2022-23. Spanning from september 2022 to june 2023, The campaign featured key activations and included support from Sharks fans, players, coaches, alumni, broadcasters, executives, corporate partners, employees, volunteers and s.j. Sharkies.
In fiscal year 23, The Foundation and sap partnered on The final year of a multi-year commitment to non-profit cityteam to fund and launch The alameda county mobile food pantry expansion project. The project, an extension of cityteam's current model that establishes food distribution locations in underserved neighborhoods throughout santa clara county, strategically selected 18 different sites across alameda county to provide disadvantaged community members with fresh and accessible groceries on a bi-monthly basis.
To begin The 2022-23 season, The Foundation and sap partnered to dedicate a $175,700 community assist grant to turningwheels for kids which provided 500 bicycles, helmets and bike locks to local underrepresented youth. 225 volunteers from The Sharks Foundation, sap and turningwheels for kids assembled The bikes and helped distribute them to 15 local non-profits and schools.
