in the village of Sre Prey, Cambodia. The class has roughly 70 students who attend when they are notin public school or at ‘home doing chores. Aimost 375 students have now learned English. Their skilis Include reading, writing and conversation. They ‘are taught by two local, trilingual Cham. One teacher began at our start In 2005 and the other was recruited just recently and ‘of our own original students who went on to finish university. This program has improved the overall perceived value of education ‘Th general, and boys and giris are now receiving equal educations and opportunities. The average number of years of education In ‘the village has Increased; high school graduation rates have increased; and students have gone through universities. Last year “the community financed and built a new school to house our programs
‘population who had attended our English classes, graduated high school and were in great financial need. Nine students have ‘completed university degrees, and three remain in classes. They have attended a handful of different universities studying widely ‘year delay after graduating before repayment is to commence. One student falled a year, but has continued his studies, while another ‘Tequired a brief leave of absence for medical reasons, but has resumed her studies and will graduate soon. ———=—SOS~CS
