Program areas at The Taki Alsop Conducting Fellowship
The Taki Alsop Conducting Fellowship (tacf) celebrated its 20th anniversary year with a series of concerts around The globe. While highlighting The collective power of women in classical music, The concerts also promoted awareness about how elusive The goal of full gender equality on The podium still is. Nine conductors who had been assisted by awards from tacf were featured in The concerts, eight of whom are The music directors of their respective orchestras, with one also serving as chief conductor of a second participating orchestra. To support these conductors and orchestras, tacf is sponsored a week of each of their 2022-23 seasons. 10 concerts took place over The 2022-23 concert season in 6 countries including: austria, canada, poland, spain, united kingdom, and The united states
Honorariums are used for travel, accomodation and incidental expenses in connection with observation and training by prominent conductor. In 2023, an honorarium was awarded to 13 individuals.
