Program areas at The Uma Center
Health Equity ProgramsThe UMA Tulsa Centers Health Equity programs provided free mobile COVID-19 vaccination clinics, cardiovascular disease prevention education, health screenings, and nutrition and healthy lifestyle change educational workshops to 3,562 residents of Tulsa County and surrounding areas. The organization partnered with the Tulsa Health Department, the Oklahoma Department of Health, the Oklahoma Caring Foundation, the George Kaiser Family Foundation, and over 15 other community partners to deliver services to uninsured and underinsured people, English language learners, immigrants, and refugees.
Economic Development ProgramsThe UMA Tulsa Center graduated 38 entrepreneurs from its business bootcamp and offered over 372 hours of Business Support, technical assistance, mentoring, networking, and referral services to Hispanic clients with limited English proficiency. Overall, The Uma Center supports over 150 Hispanic owned Businesses. Programs were offered in partnership with Tulsa Tech and 36 Degrees North. TEDC Creative Capital were offered in partnership with UMA.
Mental Health ProgramsThe UMA Tulsa Center partnered with the Oklahoma Department of Mental Health and Substance Abuse Services to certify over 27 bilingual people to work as Peer Recovery Support Specialists (PRSS). The UMA Center also facilated 8 Mental Health Workshops and 43 Mental Health Promotion Events.
