Program areas at The Urban Conservancy
STAY LOCAL - A project of the Urban Conservancy, Stay Local is Greater new Orleans independent business alliance. We create an environment for local businesses to thrive through research, education, and advocacy. We work in partnership with the Mayors Office of Community and Economic Development to assist businesses experiencing disruptions due to planned e.g. roadwork and unplanned e.g. extreme weather events.
URBAN WATER MANAGEMENT - nature-based stormwater management education and implementation, including the implementation of green infrastructure systems.
FRONT YARD INITIATIVE - The Front Yard Initiative is a project of the Urban Conservancy to improve New Orleans safety, storm water management, and beauty. The Front Yard Initiative connects homeowners interested in replacing unwanted concrete and asphalt with plants and soil. The program aims to further the sustainability and resilience goals spelled out in the GNO Urban Water Plan, and the New Orleans Master Plan.
