The Volunteer Center programs strengthen The capacity of The nonprofit sector and individual agencies to tap The vast resources that volunteers bring, particularly corporate-sector employees with professional skills, and provide those volunteers with meaningful Volunteer opportunities that deliver significant impact throughout The San Francisco bay area. In 2019/20, program service accomplishments included: 1.) Volunteer referral: nonprofits across The San Francisco bay area, los angeles, new york, and Washington dc, received referrals for key leadership and other Volunteer positions, especially from companies and professional services firms that wanted to further their employee engagement and corporate social responsibilty (csr) efforts. 2.) In particular, board member recruitment and matching: we expanded The number of new board members lending professional skills to nonprofits through The board match, job-fair-like events that introduce nonprofit executive directors and their board members to prospective board candidates. Board match events in new york, los angeles, and silicon valley attracted more than 1,200 prospective board candidates to meet with leaders from nearly 300 exhibiting nonprofits resulting in an estimated 300 new board members within a year of The events. Research shows that each new board member gives or brings an average $9,400 in cash and cash equivalent donations to their organizations. Every year thereafter that they serve. Thats $2,820,000 each year from those 300+ placements alone. Nonprofits also receive fundamental training and resources to aid their board-building strategies year-round. Board match San Francisco and board match Washington, dc, scheduled for spring of 2020, were postponed indefinitely due to covid-19 restrictions. 3.) Executive board matching: targeted leaders from bay area companies for one-on-one nonprofit board placement, with dozens of senior corporate executives placed annually. 4.) The Volunteer Center convenes The bay area corporate Volunteer council (bacvc) tomaximize The positive impact of corporations in The community. To champion corporate involvement, The bacvc provides educational and networking opportunitnewies for businesses and encourages all businesses to leverage their employees passions, diverse perspectives and skills for The betterment of The community through volunteering. Bacvc membership helps members: stay ahead of or set trends in The field network with peers across industriesand sectors benchmark & evaluate community involvement programs
