Program areas at Theater Arts Guild
In the spring of 2019 the Theater Arts Guild produced "mamma mia", a musical based onthe songs of swedish pop group abba, at mount vernon's mcintyre hall.
In 2019 tag launched tag-ed, a youth Theater education program. This inaugural six-week program was lead by tag board member sophia price and covered all aspects of Theater including acting, singing, staging and costuming.
In the fall of 2019 the Theater Arts Guild produced "pray the gay away" at mount vernon's historic lincoln theatre. Tag board member conrad askland wrote both the script and score for this original musical Theater production. "pray the gay away" takes place in 1980's minnetonka, Minnesota and shows the collision course of two boys being subjected to the controversial practice of gay conversion therapy, the lutheran church - Missouri synod statement that "homosexual behavior is intrinsically sinful", a youth pride lgbtq support group fighting for human rights, and the local community caught in the middle.
