Program areas at Thomas Hospital Foundation
The Thomas Hospital Foundation (the Foundation) provided nearly 70,000 to Thomas Hospital during the year ended march 31, 2024, to purchase specific Hospital equipment and support Hospital activities. The Foundation provided 24,500 to upgrade the surgery department waiting room. Due to heavy use, in conjunction with 2 years of enhanced cleaning regimens due to covid protocols, the surgery waiting room is in dire need of refreshing. The space is one of the most accessed areas on the Hospital campus for patients and guests and the area is showing its age. The upgrades will provide necessary improvements to this area. The Foundation provided over 10,600 to replace the flooring in the emergency department (ed) nursing station. The nursing station floors are stained and look degraded, and the floors are extremely visible to patients and family members. Staff have also been requesting improvement for some time. The project replaces the old, stained carpet with lvt flooring to clean up the appearance of a highly trafficked and visible area of the Hospital. The Foundation provided over 9,500 for new wearable blankets for the nursery department. The grant provided 1440 blankets for the department. Wearable blankets are considered safer than loose fitting blankets, especially for sleeping newborns. The Foundation provided 3,305 for a new sleeper recliner for the sleep department. Patients, and at times caregivers, need a recliner to sleep in during sleep studies. The current one was broken and would not stay reclined. The Foundation provided 2,080 to paint the respiratory therapy work area. The walls have not been painted in approximately 25 years and are outdated and dreary. New paint has been requested at staff meeting as a way to improve employee engagement. The new paint not only improved the appearance for the staffers that work in the department, but also for the pending joint commission survey.
