Blue Ridge Center expands intellectual diversity for University of Virginia students and promotes four core values: viewpoint diversity, open discourse, intellectual humility and empathetic engagement. In summer and fall 2022, brc hired its first employee, acquired a bank account, office, insurance, website, and other operations capabilities, offered its first programming events to university of Virginia students, and made extensive arrangements allowing for the expansion of its mission.

In spring and fall 2023, brc hired a second full-time employee and dramatically expanded its programming activities for college students in charlottesville. This included dozens of public speakers and debates, and conducting over a dozen reading groups. Brc also began a program of student fellows who play leadership roles in the Center's programs.
