Program areas at To Be Like Me
Field trips for students and teachers - A two-hour interactive program covering at least 10 different areas of disability, accommodating up to 100 participants, held at the Tolleson Family Activity Center in Dallas(Wednesdays) and Network of Community Ministries (Fridays). Students meet, connect with, and ask questions of our LEADers (people living with disabilities) in a safe environment. Achievements in 2022-2023: 5,900 students and teachers participated in our programs from schools across North Texas.Updated To Be Like Me website with online lessons provided at no cost - Website includes LEADer pages with lessons on each of the disabilities we cover, FAQ answered by LEADers through links to videos, conversation starters, books, STEAM lessons, and empathy/social awareness. Achievements in 2022-2023: 30,000 website page views, 12,000 unique website users.Off-site or online presentations by LEADers - LEADers participate in panel discussions, assemblies, and presentations. Achievements in 2022-2023: 1,700 students and teachers learned from our LEADers for off-site or online presentations.
