To Be Like Me

Through meaningful interactions with our LEADers*, we create a learningopportunity that fosters empathy and compassion and equips our communities to be more inclusive.*Leaders in Education and Advocacy for Disabilitiesa. Field trips for students and teachers - A two-hour interactive program covering at least ten different areas of disability, accommodating up to 100 participants, held at the Tolleson Family Activity Center in Dallas (Wednesdays) and Network of Community Ministries (Fridays). Students meet, connect with, and ask questions of our LEADers(people living with disabilities) in a safe environment. Achievements in 2023-2024: 4,700 students and teachers participated in our programs(in-person) from schools across North Texas. TBLM expenses for field trips = $12 per student x 4,810 students = $57,720.b. Community Days/On-Site Learning for Service-Based Businesses/TeachersTwo-hour interactive program covering at least ten different areas of disability,accommodating up to 100 participants for community members and service-basedbusiness employees and teachers Achievements in 2023-2024: LEADers taught approximately 400 people in 4 community day programs = $3,049.35 +Teacher Training = $1,000 + Gensler = $1,400 + Austin Street = $1,400 = $6,849.35c. Off-site or online presentations by LEADers - LEADers participate in paneldiscussions, assemblies, and presentations.
