FEMA COVID-19 VACCINE: TOGO CORE received grants and technical support from Oregon Health Authority (OHA). TOGO CORE supported the community in accessing COVID-19 vaccinations and other hygiene-related resources. TOGO CORE hosted vaccination clinics, provided transportation to and from vaccination locations. We co-hosted vaccination events with African Family Holistic Health Organization (AFHHO), in which AFHHO collaborated with a vaccine provider to provide vaccine to the community. Provided staff and volunteers to support existing vaccine events. Promoted vaccine events and vaccination effort through outreach to the community we served. We distributed culturally specific food gift cards to families. We distributed resources including food boxes, hand sanitizers, face masks.
THE COLLINS FOUNDATION GRANT: Funded a part-time organizational Management Coordinator position. TOGO CORE has continued to implement projects to provide more support to community members and community organizations. The coordinator focused on key programs, including planning, hosting, and providing logistics support to our cultural heritage events, community health education sessions, youth leadership events, and partnership activities with other community organizations. The part-time employment was challenging for TOGO CORE and for the employee. The community demands are increasing, needing immediate or quick responses to address existing ongoing demands and new needs that emerged from the COVID-19 pandemic. COVID-19 and Community Health Project Coordinator. This position helped TOGO CORE to support communities on health issues during the COVID-19 and beyond. COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT OUTREACH with Oregon Health Authority. Provided education and directly engaged with the community in COVID-19 related issues. Had several virtual community check-ins through Zoom. Personnel participated in various information sessions to gather information on COVID-19 related issues: mental and physical, safety from the pandemic, housing, childcare, food, financial, technology/academic assistance, all through a cultural specific focused lens. TOGO CORE organized educational sessions for families on emotional intelligence relating to appropriate ways to manage stress, depression, physical, mental health, behavioral health, substance addictions, self-care, during COVID-19 pandemic.
METRO - PARK: Continue building a connection between our community and nature through interactive activities that promote social gathering and more time spent in nature. We presented to community about the connection between outdoor activities and physical and mental health.
