Program areas at Tolland Historical Society
Maintenance, operation and preservation of three historical buildings and the presentation/preservation of artifacts on display therein: The Benton Homestead, the Old Tolland ounty House and the Old County Jail including Museum and Military Museum. All facilities are open seasonally. There are no admission fee-tours and presentations are free. Donations are accepted in a lock box and the funds are reported in the overall donation accounts.
Educational programs presented to local school students; living history demonstrations to include visiting speakers. Most programs are conducted by local volunteers at limited cost. Docerns are trained locally and are also volunteers. Student docerns learn as they provide assistance. Materials are from inventory, printed as needed.
A scholarship is provided annually to a local graduate attending a college in a program consistent with the general goals of any historical society. There is no revenue generated specifically for this purpose.
