We also completed impactful investigations on The sources of crime, guns and The rise in shootings committed with guns converted for automatic fire; reported on The aftermaths of The mass shootings in buffalo, ny and uvalde, tx; and launched a local reporting initiative with initial micro-bureaus in chicago, il and philadelphia, pa. The Trace's journalism engaged an audience of more than 2.9 million readers at thetrace.org, another 5.5 million on The apple news platform, and millions more who read Trace stories re-published by other Media outlets.
