Program areas at Transcendence Children and Family Services
To provide inmate-students with cognitive tools necessary to function as productive citizens, which will also translate to reduced recidivism. PEP expands educational ppportunities for inmates at The California institution for men, The California Institution for Women, The California Rehabilitation Center, The Ventura Youth Correctional Facility, The Old Folsommen & Women's Facilities, The Central California Women's Facility and The Santa Clara County Jail. With the assistance of 500 university atudent volunteers PEP has services approximately 3,000 inmates in these eight facilities since 2011.
Limitless Technology Day Camp is held at the Microsoft Technology Center in Irvine, California. This event is for 5th through 8th graders that come from the Inland Empire and Inland Valley areas Of Southern California. Limitless is hosted especially for under-privileged and under-represented populations of youth who live in these communities. The event includes a full day of interactive activities, hands-on workshops and inspiring presentations about career opportunities in STEM fields.
Reintegration Academy brings 25-30 parolees to the college campus for 10 weeks. These individuals are ccreened by the California Department Of Corrections and Rehabilitation's Southern Region. Participants are immersed in academic, life skills, and career development modules during the 10-Week Period. On the first day of the program each participant receives a meal card and a gift card (to purchase business casual clothes). In the 5Th week each participant receives a free laptop computer. In the 8Th week all participants are registered into Mt. Sac Community College and are assisted with completing financial aide forms.
