Program areas at TXRX Labs

Classes: Teaching classes for the community in diverse areas of technology and art. Over 100 courses in 2D/3D design, fabrication, welding, 3D printing, laser cutting, arts and crafts including jewelry making, woodworking and more. Education Program: TXRX Labs stayed active and engaged with local students, especially students and teachers from the Houston Independent School District (HISD). TXRX Labs continued to host on-site workshops for HISD and non-HISD students. TXRX Labs continued the partnership with Harris County Juvenile Probation (HCJPD), offering on-site training for HCJPD youth on probation and able to travel to TXRX Labs. We also offer training at the HCJPD Youth Village facility in a breadth of skills - carpentry, CAD, 3D printing, CNC laser cutting, and electronics. Job Training Program: TXRX Labs continued to run machinist training program as the True Machinist training program. True Machinist brings a focus back to the traditional craft of manual machining as a foundation for modern automation and CNC machining. In addition to manual machining, all students will learn quality inspection, Solidworks CAD design, MasterCAM programming, machine and tool set up in addition to the entry-level CNC machine operation skills. Creating "true machinists" with a broad skill set is crucial as a talented generation retires from the machinist trade. TXRX Labs also runs the Modern Manufacturing Program which is an entry-level training program designed to introduce skilled students to the various modalities of technology-driven manufacturing. Along the way, we hope to help our trainees discover their hidden talents and passions. The trainees will explore additive manufacturing and 3D printing, computer-aided drafting (CAD) and CNC Machining, metrology and quality inspection, electronics assembly and testing, and metal shop welding skills.
Membership: facility usage for members includes tools and equipment for the creation of personal projects and prototypes.
