Program areas at Treasures of JOY

Our accomplishments for 2023 include:a. Game Night outreach to the community by playing bingo, Dances, and providing meals for all who attend. Serving an average of 150 persons, our prior year was approximately 120 persons. We have paired with St. Ignatius Loyola Catholic Church to host our Game Night events; the room we host our events in has a possible capacity of 200. One month per year we host a Prom Night, and in 2023 had approximately 210 attend. For 2024, St. Ignatius will move us to a larger fellowship hall. b. Respite outreach to the community to provide four hours for parents where they drop off the special needs person and siblings so they may enjoy four hours of rest and relaxation without the burden of caregiving. We were able to provide 3 Respites in 2023 versus the 1 Respite we provided in 2022. We are now serving approximately 10 different families. c. Special Olympics i. We participated in Special Olympics bowling and sponsored approximately 35 athletes. We took the athletes out to eat after the tournaments, as there was no State Tournament like we had Pre-COVID.ii. We did not participate in Bocce Ball with Special Olympics this year, but hosted a Treasures of JOY Tournament with approximately 25 Treasures participating and family attended. We served hamburgers afterwards. d. JOYful Learning Day Habilitation a day activity and vocational learning program served approximately 59 adults in 2022. In 2023, the State of Texas required each provider to become licensed by Health and Human Services, as well begin to provide community outings. We were licensed in February 2023 and on March 1, 2023 our attendance grew to approximately 85. Throughout the year, we continued to add individuals to our enrollment and our average attendance for 2023 was 93.
