Tree planting and pruning Tree - Pittsburgh works collaboratively with community residents, non-profit partners, and institutions to facilitate the planting of both public and private trees across all city of Pittsburgh (city) neighborhoods as well as in the county of allegheny. Tree Pittsburgh also works hand in hand with local residents and volunteers from universities, corporations, and civic groups to care for public trees, including: mulching, weeding, watering, and pruning. In addition, Tree Pittsburgh raises funds and manages contracts for the professional care of large mature public trees and employs seasonal crews to care for trees throughout the city.
Education programs - Tree Pittsburgh manages the Tree tender program whereby volunteers (Tree tenders) receive education on Tree care and planting techniques, Tree identification, and Urban Forest history. Tree tenders continue to volunteer to care for and plant trees and they receive continuing education. In addition, Tree Pittsburgh offers a diverse series of tree-related classes to the general public throughout the year for both children and adults alike.
Tree nursery - the Tree Pittsburgh heritage nursery (nursery) was created to grow species of trees that, when planted, will increase the genetic biodiversity in the region. the majority of seeds used in propagation are collected from local specimen trees and grown on the nursery's site.
