Program areas at Trees That Feed Foundation
Tree planting: we distributed 41,711 quality fruit Trees mainly to smallholder farmers in 14 countries. We purchase Trees from nurseries in the us or locally then donate them. We screen requests for Trees by considering applicants' agricultural knowledge and other criteria. We monitor the Trees after they are planted in the field to encourage care and survival to maturity. Our other programs listed below support tree planting and help to maximize economic value of the Trees.
Agribusiness: we provide equipment and training to entrepreneurs producing food products. We also buy food porducts from them and disribute to schools. Our goal is to help small businesses launch and ultimately become independent of charitable support.
School feeding: we distributed over 272,000 meals to schoolchildren in haiti and jamaica. Food products are produced locally and derived mainly from breadfruit. Breadfruit is highly nutritious and the food products are tasty. This program serves over 50 schools and over 8,000 children. Students, teachers and parents have thanked us. This program encourages small agribusinesses which in turn provide economic benefit to farmers.
Other program services is education & training. We hold seminars, produce videos, and print educational books. Our audiences are farmers and schoolchildren. Our programs integrate well and help ensure tree survival.
