Program areas at Truancy Intervention Project Georgia

Operating in Fulton County since 1991, TIP Georgia, Inc. has the objective to provide early positive intervention with children in Atlanta Public and Fulton County schools who are chronically absent from school and as a result, either become involved with the Fulton County Juvenile Court or are referred for early intervention at the school level. By pairing volunteers (attorneys and non-attorneys) with children and their families, TIP strives to decrease absenteeism rates and provide families with resources and services necessary to ensure good attendance and success in school. To date over 1,100 TIP volunteers have donated thousands of hours of time to represent more than 11,000 truant children. The hours contributed by the volunteer attorneys represent an estimated savings to Fulton county taxpayers over $5.5 million dollars and this estimate does not include all that is contributed by non-attorney volunteers.
