Program areas at True Freedom

Prison Ministry - True Freedom Prison Ministry is working to fulfill the Great Commission, to make disciples of Jesus Christ - seeking to reach those incarcerated all across the state of Ohio and their families with the message of Good News found only in Jesus Christ. True Freedom Prison Ministry collaborates with the Ohio Department of Rehabilitation and Corrections, other nonprofit organizations, and public groups to rehabilitate those incarcerated and to prepare them for successful reintegration. These efforts are creating a culture change within the prison system, changing hearts and minds of those touched and creating a climate that contributes to the development of pro-social values and behaviors which are tangible and sustainable through the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Mens Prison Ministry - True Freedom Mens Prison Ministry has a vision to be in every prison in the state of Ohio every week doing evangelism, discipleship and mentorship, addiction recovery and pre-release programming with the goal of making every inmate a committed follower of Jesus Christ, equipping them to lead lives of purpose and productivity inside prison and upon reentry into society.Womens Prison Ministry - The number of women in prison is very small in proportion to the overall prison population, but this population is the fastest growing demographic in the prison system. True Freedom Ministries is impacting the lives of the women at the Northeast Reintegration Center in Cleveland and helping to change the culture of the prison to one of acceptance and hope. True Freedom provides worship services, Bible studies and Christ-centered programming for the women. True Freedom offers weekly Alpha Course, an introduction to Christianity and Discipleship. In addition to the faith-based programming, we provide a pre-release workforce empowerment program through True Freedom Enterprises, equipping women with skills to help them successfully reenter society upon their release.Juvenile Prison Ministry - The Juvenile Criminal Justice System mirrors that of the adult system: there is a detention facility where minors are held waiting to go to court for their alleged offenses and the Juvenile Prison where offenders are sent to serve their time. When these young men and women enter either of these facilities they are in a time of crisis, and True Freedom is there to reach them with the Gospel. The True Freedom Juvenile Prison Ministry provides chaplaincy coverage seven days a week conducting services and counseling at the Cuyahoga County Juvenile Detention Center in inner-city Cleveland and the Cuyahoga Hills Juvenile Prison. These frightened and abused youngsters need a hug; they need hope, and they need the loving message of the Gospel of Jesus Christ to help them turn their lives to a new path.Support for Families - We are also committed to the well-being and spiritual needs of family members and others affected by incarceration of their loved ones.Homeless Ministry - Our Homeless Ministry began in 1994 when God spoke to an ex-convict working in a machine shop and told him to go and feed the homeless. That night, Emil Pocisk and his wife Sandy made a few sandwiches and drove around Cleveland looking for someone in need. Out of that calling grew a team of over 40 dedicated volunteers who faithfully serve hot meals and the love of Jesus Christ to the homeless in Cleveland every Saturday, rain or shine, sleet or heat. Emil went home to be with the Lord in 2005, but his legacy and mission are carried on today by his wife, Sandy. Immediately after True Freedom Ministries was formed, Sandy called to see if the homeless ministry could find a home. We were delighted to welcome Sandy and her team aboard. This outreach has not missed a single weekend since 1994 - Meeting weekly, every Saturday, rain or shine, at 7:30 p.m. at the Lutheran Mens Shelter, 2100 Lakeside Ave E, Cleveland, OH 44114.Reformers Unanimous (RU) - True Freedom hosts an addiction recovery program called Reformers Unanimous (RU) in the inner-city of Cleveland. Each week men and women gather to find support, accountability, and the life-changing power of Jesus Christ. Reformers Unanimous is a Christ-centered addiction recovery program that uses a unique Christian approach to equip addicts with lifelong skills that break addictions. This victory is obtained and retained through a dynamic relationship with Jesus Christ and a resultant vital connection with His Body, the Church. If you or anyone you know is struggling with addiction, we meet every Thursday, 6:30 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. at 2005 Cypress Avenue, Cleveland, Ohio 44109. For more information, please call 1 (216) 202-3636 ext.709.Equipping Churches - True Freedom Ministries seeks to be a tool and a conduit for local churches to equip and empower their members for prison, homeless, and addiction recovery ministries. True Freedom is one of the few organizations entrusted by the State of Ohio to participate in new volunteer training. We conduct day-long seminars in partner churches all across Northeast Ohio.
