Program areas at Lake County 4-H Club Committee
Awards & recognition. Each year at the annual Lake County 4-H fair, trophies and awards are presented to recognize the winners in the diferent projects ranging from arts and crafts to livestock. Each year donations are raised to pay for these various rewards. Also, each year the organization sponsers the annual recognition banquet which is held to recognize the individuals who work throughout the year as either a 4-H leader or 4-H junior leader. It is at this banquet that our ambassador board for the Lake County 4-H is announced for the following year.
4-H animal auction. At the annual 4-H fair the livestock members sell thier animals. The proceeds from the sale are paid to the individual memebers who sold with a small portion of the proceeds being maintained by the organization to fund the auction for the following year.
Other program services inculde the funds raised and expenses through programs and project sponserships. The organization raises funds to support the various programs and projects throughout the 4-H program. Programs include the agricultural awareness days, mini 4-H program, and individual 4-H projects.
Member leadership and development throughout the year the 4-H members are encouraged to participate at the County area, state, and national levels. These activites can vary from public speaking, judging livestock, and the knowlege of the livestock. The organization uses funds to assist with the registration fees for these activities. Some of the activities will also include trips and workshops, that are held normally on the purdue west lafayette campus, that the members are encouraged to participate in various areas including 4-H band and chorus, engineering workshops, food and health workshops and computer science workshops. The organization also assists in the paying of the registration fee for the youth to participate at the 4-H camp that is held annually at the Indiana dunes resource center. The organization has also sen the members to participate in the citzenship Washington focus trip to Washington dc.
