Program areas at Truth Spring
Provided education for at-risk children in the community. Truth Spring academy is a private, christian school for low income families. Our mission is to rebuild a foundation of christ-centered living by offering a quality, christian education that focuses on challenging academics, character development, and servant leadership. Enrollment for 2023 was 72 students in kindergarten through fifth grade. The cost per student was approximately $9,300, and all students received full scholarships. All funding was provided through contributions from donors within or around the columbus, Georgia region.
Provided workforce development for chronically unemployed and underemployed indiviudals through the trade school program. Truth Spring is working to help provide job readiness training and job placement in partnership with columbus technical college and local employers. This initiative concentrates on reducing some of the most common barriers to sustained employment. Childcare is provided at no cost to individuals enrolled in the program. Training is offered in construction, culinary arts, child development, urban farming and lawn maintenance. There have been 41 graduates of the program since its inception in 2020. Employment rates of graduates rose from 14% before the program to 84% after the program. 83% of graduates are still employed 18 months post-graduation.
Provided affordable housing for low income families in the community the organization serves. Our housing initiative is a faith-based, community oriented approach that focuses on purchasing and renovating homes within the community, and placing low-income families into quality housing.eight homes have been purchased and renovated and now have tenants living in them. Four additional homes/lots were purchased in 2023 and are in the process of being renovated or built. Approximate number of people served in 2023 is 15.
