Program areas at Turning Points
Medical/dental clinics - the Turning Points health center is a community-based nonprofit clinic offering access to free, high-quality, compassionate medical, dental, and pharmacy services. To qualify for services, individuals must be 18-64 years of age, income-qualified, uninsured, and residents of manatee county. In fiscal year 2022-2023 Turning point health center assisted patients in receiving $1,375,936 in free prescription medication.
Transitional development program - Turning Points provided $2,030,919 in rental and utility assistance in fiscal year 2022-2023 to individuals and families experiencing Homelessness or at risk of becoming homeless. Along with financial assistance, clients receive case management, tools, support, and referrals to Community partners to assist them in removing barriers to remaining stably housed.
The day resource center provides a caring place for individuals who are experiencing Homelessness, or are at risk of becoming homeless, to get their basic needs met. Clients have access to hot showers, clean clothing, shoes, laundry services, access to restrooms, telephones, and a computer lab. They can receive haircuts, have their mail delivered to the day resource center, and get assistance with obtaining food stamps, birth certificates, and legal identification. The day resource center bike shop provides access to opportunity by repairing and distributing bikes for nearly 700 Turning Points clients each year.
The yellow ribbon program the yellow ribbon program provides basic needs services, case management, employment assistance, financial assistance, and support for veterans and veteran families, with a focus on gaining long-term sustainability. Coalition on homelessnessturning Points serves as the Community Coalition on Homelessness corporation for manatee county, as recognized by the state of Florida. In addition to providing direct services to individuals and families to prevent and end Homelessness in our Community, Turning Points also advocates in the Community on issues related to Homelessness. Major issues such as affordable housing, livable wages, access to healthcare, and education for families at risk are all contributors to the prevalence of Homelessness in our Community. Turning Points provides leadership in bringing awareness to these and other issues, educating the public about Homelessness, its causes, and what the Community can do to be part of the solution.
