Program areas at Ujima the National Center on Violence Against Women

Research throughout this grant year, Ujima inc. has collaborated with researchers, evaluators and practitioners to produce four (4) fact sheets. We have conducted research that covers the intersections of stalking and domestic Violence, domestic Violence and how it shows up in lgbtqia+ relationships, the economic gender pay-gap and its impact on black Women, and the experience of black/african immigrant survivors as they access resources and services. This research has led to the production of a total of 4 fact sheets and resource papers entitled: - understanding the stigmatization of lgbtqia+ couples - stalking - economic barriers to safety for black Women and - the black/african immigrant survivor experience with intimate partner Violence (ipv)additionally, Ujima has collaborated with two other culturally specific National resource centers such as esperanza united, asian pacific institute on gender based Violence to administer a culturally-specific needs assessment. the purpose of this needs assessment was to help identify and recommend ways to bridge gaps in services and resources of culturally-specific organizations that served survivors of ipv.the arp dv and sa culturally specific population program. (15%).eighty percent of grantees have increased their organizational/infrastructure capacity. Have increased and diversified program funding from federal programs.ujima and scesa, the National organization of sisters of color ending sexual assault continue to implement the building the capacity of black programs initiative (bcp initiative). Together, the organizations provide funding to 40 domestic Violence and sexual assault culturally specific organizations developed by and for the black community to increase access for black survivors in response to the covid-19 pandemic and strengthen the capacity of culturally specific black organizations to successfully apply for and manage federal, state, and local grants. Grant recipients receive intensive tta designed to increase their capacity to successfully manage federal funds. Most recently, and as a result of Ujima's tta, several of the bcp grantees received direct funding support from both the us department of health and human services and the us department of justice.
