Program areas at Uma Institute for Tibetan Studies

In july 2011 the Uma Institute for Tibetan Studies (Uma) undertook a project to present annotated, introduced and explained translations of essential indian texts and themes that are in the shared heritage of Tibetan and inner asian buddhist systems. The project focuses on the three great indian books and Tibetan commentaries from the go-mang college syllabus as well as a related theme on the fundamental innate mind of clear light in tantric texts. A feature of the project is the usage of consistent vocabulary and format throughout the translations. Uma is fortunate to have thirteen experts in the field providing translation services for the project, five of whom are current board members. To the end of 2019, 47 books have been published and made available online. In addition, Uma develops and maintains multimedia archives as research and instructional resources accessible across the worldwide web benefiting many thousands.
