The Unite Here Education and Support Fund supports a variety of workforce development, apprenticeship and training programs to train low income individuals for jobs in the hospitality industry. In 2023, Support was provided to one training center, located in new york city.the center provides top-quality, up-skill vocational training to employees already working in the hospitality industry as well as a variety of workforce development training programs to clients seeking employment in the hospitality and food service industry.
The august 2023 fire in the town of lahaina, maui greatly impacted the hospitality industry and thousands of hospitality workers. The Fund provided relief funds to an organization that distributed funds to 1,049 hospitality workers on the island of maui who were directly impacted by loss of work and/or housing because of the lahaina fire.
