Trainingwe provide a job preparation training course, jobs for life, to those preparing for release from long term incarceration, and we assign a champion (mentor) to walk alongside each.
Empoweringthrough our champions and 24/7 access to our network of wrap around service providers, we enable ex-offenders to eventually chart their own course for a successful life.
Connectingwe connect our jobs for life graduates to employers willing to offer second chances directly through our champions as well as via our website, secondchanceindy.com. We also make the website available to others with criminal records so that they can conduct job searches and apply online. And, we address the no. 1 obstacle to keeping a job - the lack of affordable, dependable transportation - by providing transportation at no charge to and from work on a daily basis.
Raising awareness: Unite Indy works to raise awareness of the needs of those in our community through print, broadcast, and social media. We believe that humans are born hard-wired to be compassionate and generous, but too often we're innocently ignorant of the needs of our own neighbors. And, we believe that, once these needs are brought to our attention, the community will spring into action to make a difference together.
