Funds were utilized to continue project support and general operating support of the associated activities of VEJC and UPAL's Solar Powered Community Resiliency Hub in Petersburg, Virginia 23803, related training and certifications. We also acquired a house will to be used to provide office space and security quarters in conjunction with Greenlining Petersburg project and installation of EV Charging Stations.
Funds were used to Build Equity and Alignment in the distressed community of Petersburg, VA through the creation of a solar powered community resiliency Hub. The resiliency Hub limits the impact of power outages and quickly restores power during climate crises. These funds made it possible to ensure energy resiliency by adding a solar plus storage system with inverters and battery banks. This energy will power the administrative offices, classrooms and all common areas of the Hub while affording community members access to gathering spaces, food and water and electricity to charge devices, medical equipment, and other essential items. 800 individuals reached thus far
Funding was used as a resource to provide continued support to the member organizations of the VEJC that UPAL partnered with. This included Collaborative member's involvement and participation as peer-to-peer electric mobility issues on the state and national levels. Including Serving as EJ Advisors to the Transportation, Equity, Climate and Health Project (TRECH). Working internally with VEJC Policy Committee to monitor and develop transportation policy goals that are equitable and racially just Attended and participated in TEEM Roadmap and FORTH Convening as panelists Drafted Workforce Development Curriculum, Published co-authored Op-Ed re Workforce Development and Federal Funding, Support advancement of TEEM National Agenda Reached 1000 individuals
