Program areas at United Senior Services
Nutrition Services for older adults provides hot and cold meals at four congregate sites throughout Clark County, and to people in their homes. 131,106 total meals were served to 2,310 older adults.
In-home Services give support to older adults so they can live independently in our community. These Services include 110,192 miles of transportation, providing in-home Services to 278 cleints, emergency assistance to 312 clients, caring Services to 643 clients, as well as chore, medicare assistance, and home repairs.
Mental health assessments and Services for older adults provides assistance in preventing depression and isolation due to issues related to aging. We served 665 older adults through social recreation, gatekeeper, guardianship, outreach, telephone reassurance and friendly visiting. We collaborate with professionals from mental health Services of Clark co. to provide psychiatric care counseling, and refer clients to our agency for supervised recreation and socialization. This type of program has proven to be a non-threatening approach to getting older adults to access mental health Services.
Education and socialization programs for older adults promote general well-being and independent living. Over 100,500 check ins and clients participated in our programs, events, activities, classes, trips and tours. These programs are designed to encourage older adults to live active, involved and independent lives. Just over 5,000 members participated in more than 50 weekly programs, special events and educations opportunities. We coordinate and monitor 375 volunteers who provided more than 53,569 hours of volunteer Services to agencies and nonprofits in the County. We published 7 newsletters in addition to our e-newsletter and social media posts to keep our consumers informed on events.
