Program areas at United Seniors of Oakland and Alameda County
For the last 18 years USOAC has offered Travel Training to seniors on the Bay Areas public transit systems, so that they could learn skills to ride and gain the confidence to use public transportation. Our Travel Training program also advocates for accessible, affordable, and available public transit for older adults. In 2021 our Travel Trainer attended about 15 continued education webinars and other virtual meetings and/or forums. There were only 3 travel trainees during the year due to Covid-19. We conducted 3 actions and our Travel Trainer advocated and/or represented seniors at 11 meetings. There was also work done to promote safe routes to and from transit through our Pedestrian Safety. Finally, there were 823 Travel Training contacts for Covid-19.
