United States Megafire Response's mission is to build a team of fire practitioners, policy makers, entrepreneurs, and activists dedicated to solving the megafire crisis in the country. Megafire Action has built up its team and media assets and developed an initial policy agenda before its public launch in September. It cultivated a network of donors and introduced itself to decision makers focusing on addressing the megafire crisis.

Program areas at United States Megafire Response

Legislative process & Partner Coalition Network built in DC: Partnerships strengthen Megafire Action's influence over the policy discussion. MA successfully orchestrated a Congressional staff briefing and led follow up meetings with 60+ Congressional offices and the House Natural Resources Committee. Finished the year working on a crosswalk that combines recommendations from the Wildfire Commission Report the FAS Accelerator The Nature Conservancy's Wildfire Resilience Framework and existing legislative and administrative proposals to provide momentum and educated influence to key decision makers.
3 Media Engine - Interviewed and published in 4 major publications and orchestrated content & outreach for TED talk.
Joint Budget - Worked closely with 3 NGOs on a proposal to streamline and better coordinate federal spending on wildfire across agencies. Published a joint letter of fiscal concepts and accountability requests.
