MANA Multicultural and Generational Approach to Navigating our Ancestry. Our Talanoa and ROOTED programs offer us a space to speak openly and honestly about the topics, issues, and practices that concern our Pasifika community. Through these events we dispel stigma and learn what it is to be people of the Pacific Islands. Ala Mai allows us as a community to reconnect with the sacred cultural traditions of the Pacific. Through song, dance, craft, and fellowship we are rekindling our connection with ourselves, our diasporic peers, and our ancestors in a safe and sacred space made especially for us. MANA Youth program looks to create a safe and sacred healing space for all Two-Spirit and LGBTQIA+ youth, young adults, and their allies. We do this by reclaiming our indigenous queer culture and practices and celebrating youth in the fullness of their identities. Our support for youth in this pillar of our work includes a MANA Youth Council elected and run by the youth and their peers, A Ho'omau Youth Peer Support Group that provides gathering spaces for youth where they can learn and be amongst one another, and various gatherings, workshops, and educational opportunities to enrich and strengthen their identities and self-determination. Our Food Sovereignty program that originally launched in 2022, continued strong with our in-house Makeki Food Pantry. From here, we distributed fresh produce, canned goods, food boxes and other culturally relevant foods to the community. Our Fa'atoaga (Community Farm) planted and harvested 13 various crops that engaged community and volunteers to connect to our traditional customs with connection to the land and water, while honoring the original caretakers of the lands on which we occupy, live, work, and play on. SPEAC CHANGE SYSTEMS, POLICY, ENVIRONMENTAL, AND CULTURE CHANGE Our Immigration Services provides support and direction with amending legal documents, citizenship access, and voter education. Our care workers assist clients with amending legal documents. This process can be difficult to navigate, time consuming and stressful. We offer resources and support to ease the burden. We help clients who are looking to apply for citizenship and provide direct legal assistance and referrals to guide clients through the application process. We encourage eligible individuals register to vote, build leadership and advocacy skills, and share information about elections so that our clients can make informed decisions about legislative policies and candidates Malama i ka 'Aina - To respect and care for the land. This proverb is an important pillar of Native Hawaiian culture and serves as the model for our climate and environmental justice work. UTOPIA believes community growth and livelihoods starts by working from within our homes and our cultural places of refuge. This program exists to raise awareness of the causes and effects of climate change. Through it we are creating a platform for Queer Transgender Pacific Islanders, BIPOC, and 2SLGBTOIA + Individuals to voice concerns, take action and claim their role in the process of political reform. Since the beginning of this year we were able to champion several environmental bills consisting of the current HEAL Act. Transportation Justice, Clean Energy Strategies Goals, King County Strategic Climate Action Plan, and several other Federal level climate resilience programming Supporting community centered solutions to hold government entities and other externalities accountable for their actions. Aside from the policy arena we were also involving our community to support and engage in not only advocacy work but environmental outreach programs, Throughout the year. UTOPIA Washington's Regional Organizing has actively collaborated with various community based organizations across the country to collectively address critical policy thematic areas encompassing sexual health, reproductive rights, climate action, economic justice, immigration policies, and gender equality: Our concerted efforts in these domains have highlighted the interconnections among these issues and emphasized their intersectional impact on the autonomy and well-being of Queer and Trans Pacific Islanders.
