Program areas at United Way of Decatur and Mid Il
Community investment: United Way of Decatur and Mid Illinois invests in programs that have measurable outcomes related to our common community approach. These programs must have an outcome that is predetermined by our community, and that has positive results. Outcomes are derived from our lines of effort: youth education, adult education and training, health, safety, and essential services. Program investment through the community impact investment process are researched and monitored by knowledgeable volunteers who ensure that dollars are invested in programs that are effective, efficient and integrated.
Community impact: United Way of Decatur and Mid Illinois leads community transformation through effective, efficient, and integrated solutions that empower everyone to be self-sufficient. Our community impact includes our programs: 211, iris (integrated and intake system), neighborhood canvassing project, early behavioral therapist/early childhood development/kindergarten readiness collaboration, dolly parton imagination library, and dewitt system of care collaboration.
Designations: investments to the United Way of Decatur and Mid Illinois may be designated to qualified tax exempt agencies. These designated gifts are paid directly to the specified agencies to aid in furthering their individual missions.
Alice funding is for individuals/families that are in need of basic needs such as gas, housing, and utilities and emergency situations for issues such as shelter and food. This funding is used when all other community resources have been sought with no assistance provided. Another arm of the assistance is for situations when an individual is in need of treatment or schooling. This can consist of substance abuse treatment, mental health treatment, and scholarships for schooling. The 1st responder and veteran's wellness and resource program provides counseling and resources specifically targeted for all 1st responders including fire, law enforcement, ema, dispatch, emergency department personnel, etc. The resource center provides free counseling to 1st responders and their immediate families. The hispanic resource program has a full-time hispanic resource liaison addressing the needs of the growing hispanic population in macon county. The liaison is a certified medical translator and interpreter. The liaison works with individuals and families to address their needs and assist them with becoming self-sufficient.
