Capacity building - providing information, services and networking opportunities to ueda members. Ueda works to keep its members informed and updated on the key issues that impact their work including housing, neighborhood revitalization, real estate Development, financial capability or Economic inclusion, lending, government regulations, workforce issues, regional transportation, entrepreneurship and small business support. Outcome examples are monthly newsletters, educational and/or networking events, affinity groups, stakeholder meetings, policy updates, listserv and social media engagement.
Financial empowerment: ueda also engages in other initiatives as an intermediary organization, assisting to build and facilitate collaborations among individuals, organizations, and groups working in Economic and community Development, particularly in issues related to Economic inclusion and small business. Examples include bank on greater milwaukee, financial equity group, food enterprise Development network (fedn), money smart week Wisconsin milwaukee planning council, and small business affinity group (all active projects of ueda).
Technical assistance - ueda is a sub recipient for u.s. department of housing and Urban Development (hud) community Development block grant (cdbg) funds for the city of milwaukee. Projects include coordination of community planning and eviction prevention services, policy and program review/development, neighborhood-based data analysis and training support, and organizational-based technical assistance to strengthen the operations of other cdbgfunded agencies (i.e., financial management, strategic planning, program evaluation, technology infrastructure).
Take root milwaukee - this program initiative is in partnership with the city of milwaukee, freddie mac and more than 45 other members to promote sustainable homeownership resources and strong neighborhoods. Ueda provides administrative and fiscal services, assisting with various events and activities that promote homeownership education, connect consumers to home buying and home repair and resources, and mitigate the impact of foreclosures on neighborhoods.contracted services - ueda offers strategic planning, event coordination, community outreach, evaluation/research, fiscal sponsorship, etc. As a fee-for-service to members and other community partners. Past projects have included work with the southeastern Wisconsin regional planning commission (sewrpc), metcalfe park community bridges, upstart kitchen, wi student loan debt coalition, making connections milwaukee, milwaukee business improvement district (bid) council, and the historic king drive bidevents and workshops - ueda coordinates and/or hosts events such as the emerging topics series, which provide opportunities for businesses, government, and community-based organizations to network, exchange ideas and learn best practices on various issues impacting Economic and community Development. Ueda hosts an annual fundraiser, "carnival milwaukee," each february that highlights local businesses and cultural partners. Ueda has also administered or assisted with various educational events in collaboration with local government, members, funders, and others.
