Program areas at The Urban History Association

Biennial conference - The conference is held every other year and attracts upwards of 500 Urban historians, writers, scholars, and journalists.
Best awards - 4 awards are given out annually for best Urban History article in scholarly journal, best book in north american History, best dissertation in Urban History, and, starting in 2021, best book in non-north american Urban History. An annual graduate student blog award was added in 2018. In conference years, a best graduate student paper prize is awarded. 7 individuals received awards in 2023.
Newsletter - The Urban History e-newsletter is published monthly to all members of The Urban History Association. In april of 2017 The blog, The metropole, was launched. The metropole is published several times a week by various Urban History authors.
