Employment resource center in an era where the digital marketplace is rapidly evolving and employment increasingly hinges on a hybrid of online and physical interactions, the employment and resource center (erc) stands out as a crucial arm of the Urban League of Eastern Massachusetts. This initiative is specifically designed to bridge the digital divide that often leaves communities of color at a disadvantage. The erc offers a comprehensive range of services to both program participants and the wider community. These services include assistance with online job searches, resume support, up-to-date job listings, and access to a job board. In response to the pandemic and the ensuing limitations on public access to physical spaces, the Urban League of Eastern Massachusetts has innovatively adapted by establishing a dedicated virtual space. This space, known as the equal opportunity commons (eocommons.peoplegrove.com), has garnered a community of about 11,000 members. Here, individuals can access the latest job announcements, information, and resources, ensuring continuity in support and empowerment for job seekers even in challenging times. This commitment underscores the organization's holistic approach to workforce development, ensuring that participants are supported in all aspects of their journey towards stable and fulfilling careers. Leaders over lunch the leaders over lunch (lol) series, an initiative by the Urban League of Eastern Massachusetts, offers audience members the opportunity to hear diverse perspectives from various guests and panelists. It provides participants with a feasible entry point into the tech industry through comprehensive training and support. This includes gaining aws cloud practitioner certification, engaging in workshops that enhance tech-related skills, and seizing opportunities for practical work experience via internships or temporary placements. Mandela re-entry initiative the mandela re-entry initiative, a collaborative effort with torchlight recovery services, is a transformative program designed for inmates at the suffolk county sheriff's south bay correctional facility. Summer learn and earn program the summer learn & learn program is specifically tailored for high school students and spans over eight weeks, focusing on leadership and service learning. Additionally, the program includes an engaging cultural dimension where students partake in art and cultural events. Youth opportunity developing achievers (yoda) the youth opportunity developing achievers (yoda) program, a stem exploratory initiative, immerses bipoc students in the realms of autonomous technology, cybersecurity, and artificial intelligence over a full academic year. In its inaugural year, yoda welcomed 12 students from a variety of public and private middle and high schools across metropolitan boston. These students had the unique opportunity to attend camp atwater, the oldest black-owned and operated camp under the stewardship of the Urban League of springfield. There, they participated in a two-night stem camp, fully funded by the Urban League of Eastern Massachusetts (ulem).
Domestic and sexual violence project the domestic and sexual violence project is a culturally specific services program designed to improve outcomes for african american domestic and sexual violence victims/survivors and their families. The project's ovw objectives include: "delivering in-depth domestic violence awareness programs to the community "providing cultural competency training to students at northeastern university, school of law "engaging with church leadership to provide training, education, and support for victims/survivors.
